What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is classed as a complimentary therapy that uses hypnosis (an altered and natural state of consciousness) to help people make positive changes within themselves.  It is a completely safe process that has no harmful side effects.  An experienced hypnotherapist will use positive suggestion and a variety of other verbal techniques to encourage a subconscious change to a person’s thoughts, feelings and behavioural patterns.

What is hypnosis and what does being in hypnosis feel like?

It may surprise you, but being in hypnosis is a perfectly normal and relaxing state.  In fact, we all naturally go into hypnosis many times throughout the day (whilst driving, reading or watching television for example) – it’s a bit like daydreaming.  So, if you’ve ever wondered how you got from A to B whilst you were driving your car, you were probably in hypnosis!  Essentially you could describe hypnosis as a state of heightened awareness, whilst your body remains relaxed and calm.  In this state, we can access our subconscious mind, the part of our mind that stores all our long-term memories, the part that is responsible for all those things we do naturally.  By accessing those deeply embedded thoughts, emotions and habits, and bypassing the critical factors of the conscious mind, we can align and update our subconscious to suit our current goals.

How many sessions will I need?

This can be difficult to establish at the beginning as every case is different – it very much depends on the presenting issue.  Some treatments can be successful after just one session – whilst others may take several weeks to resolve.

Clients may also wish to make the most of the benefits a regular stress buster session provides and attend an appointment just once a month to help them relax and unwind.

Whatever the case, RD Hypnotherapy will always act with utmost professionalism and aim to help you to overcome your issues in as little time as possible.  With ongoing cases, a thorough review of progress will be conducted every 4 weeks to ensure the best possible outcomes.

What is the success rate?

Hypnotherapy is becoming an increasingly popular therapy and this is mainly due to its high success rate. However, results can vary from client to client depending on many different factors -  no two cases are exactly the same.

Whilst no hypnotherapist can guarantee the resolution of a client’s presenting issues, as long as the client follows all instructions given, and is open and willing to change, there is no reason why the therapy would not be successful.

Please read my Success Stories page to find out how hypnotherapy has helped just some of my clients.
