One to one ‘hypnobirthing’ sessions at RD Hypnotherapy in Selby, to help you to prepare for a more relaxed, positive and manageable birthing experience.

In recent years, there has been much research into reducing the fear, pain and anxiety of childbirth using hypnotherapy for childbirth or ‘hypnobirthing’ techniques, the results of which have indicated a range of positive outcomes.  Clinical studies* have found self-hypnosis techniques taught during ‘hypnobirthing’ sessions to be beneficial during labour and birth, promoting feelings of calmness, confidence and empowerment.

The overall benefits of a successful ‘hypnobirth’ based on research also include: shorter labours, reported less pain, a reduction in the need for medical intervention and a reduced need for pharmacological anaesthesia.

RD Hypnotherapy provides a 6-session course of one to one hypnosis training for prospective parents over a period of 4 to 6 weeks from around 30-32 weeks.  The sessions are predominately for the expectant mother, but we do ask that the ‘birthing partner’, as a crucial part of the birthing process, attends one of these sessions (as well as the free consultation) to receive their training.

These sessions teach you the tools and techniques you’ll need to overcome any fear or anxiety you may have, put behind you any previous traumatic birth experiences, reduce the need for pain relief and to be calm and in control throughout the birth of your baby.  You will learn how to work with your body, empowering you to experience a more relaxed, positive and manageable birth**.
